John (1). Born in Ireland in 1722; d. in 1798 in Westmoreland Co., Pa. Came to America before the Revolutionary War. Was a Captain in that war. Three sons served under him. Married Mary Daugherty (daughter of Edward Daugherty, a Revolutionary soldier), of Lancaster, Pa. She was born in 1732, married in 1750, and died 1808. Children:

Edward Daugherty living in Lancaster in 1717 married before 1720 to Mary Dunwoodie. He died 1736 and she administered his estate. she died in 1766 and in her Will mentions her eldest son, Edward and his children. Among them was Mary, wife of John Latta.

John (2) John (1). Born February 11, 1769; d. April 7, 1855; m. Mary McDonald 1794. She was born 1771 and died 1850. Lived in Franklin Co., Pa. 1795. Moved with parents to Columbia Co., Ohio, then to Perry Co., Ohio. Afterwards lived with son Isaac. Methodist. Was in the War of 1812. The tombstone at Millertown, Ohio, reads that George Latta and Mary McDonald Latta, his wife, are buried there. Children:

Married Nancy Welch, daughter of Reson and Polly Welch. She was born in Maryland October 22, 1815. Married November 10, 1836; d. October 10, 1891. Both went to Old School Baptist Church at New Lexington, Ohio. Lived near Corning, Ohio. Children: Both died in Perry Co., Ohio and buried at Rehobeth, Ohio.

She was born in 1819; d. 1846. John and Elizabeth both buried in Millertown, Ohio Cemetery. 3) Hannah Green. Children only by second wife:

C, 62d Ohio. Vols. Was in 15 engagements. Mustered out December 23, 1864. After the war in a covered wagon they went to a farm near Viroqua, Wis. in 1866. In 1892 they went to Viroqua, Wis. and lived there until his death. Children:

LILLIAN MAUD (6) b. September 13, 1870; m. twice. First to her cousin, Mr. Hall, son of Aunt Eliza Jane Hall. He had four children by a former wife. He died by accident on March 24, 1921. On December 29, 1923 she married William Garrett. He died of cancer May 15, 1926. No children. In 1937 she was living at Viroqua, Wis.

JESSIE GRACE (6) b. January 8, 1880; m. Mr. McHugo. Two daughters: Catherine and Madeline. In 1934 living at International Falls, Minn.

MARY ANN (6) b. June 20, 1868; d. at La Crosse, Wis. January 1, 1927; m. William Edwards. Had three daughters, all married.

Moved with his parents to Vernon Co., Wis. 1867 in a covered wagon. When 21 went to Sioux Co., Iowa. For nine years was farmer, school teacher, store clerk and grain buyer. Then went to Wis. and was attendant at Insane Asylum. Was second man in a lumber yard for twelve years. Then moved to Victor, Iowa and in 1906 was a manager at a lumber yard there. Children all born at Viroqua, Wis. In 1934 all the children were living at Sac City, Iowa:

Married Jennie Park at Washington, Iowa February 20, 1895. She was born at Washington, Iowa November 1, 1874. He was vice-president American Life Insurance Co., Des Moines, Iowa in 1921. Major in World War. In 1926 lived at Seattle, Wash. One child:

DOROTHY PARK (7) b. at Washington, Iowa September 27, 1898. In 1930 lived at Detroit, Mich.

Mrs. M. Ellwood Latta writes: "My family name is Park. It is spelled various ways in the family. Park, Parke, and Parks. They are Virginians, Hampshire Co., W. Va. A branch of the family is living on the land of Capun Bridges, that my great grandfather, John Parke, lived on and had a deed for it signed by Thomas, Lord Fairfax, in 1762. They possess this deed, also his and his wife's Wills. The Parks of Virginia are descended from Col. Daniel Park, Sr., Secretary of State 1679. Member of the Council in 1670. Born in England 1628. Died 1679, buried in Benton Church, Williamsburg, Va. There is a tablet to his memory in Benton Church. They were of Essex Co., England. His won, Daniel Park, Jr., was Governor of Leeward Islands. He married

Jane Ludwell, daughter of Philip Ludwell, Governor of No. and So. Carolinas. Their daughter, Lucy, married Col. John Cuastis, whose son Daniel Parks Custis, was Martha Washington's first husband. Later in 1759, Martha Custis married George Washington. George Washington surveyed this land of my ancestor at Capon Bridge.
