Bylaws
Governance
The Society is a nonprofit organization governed by these bylaws and, where the bylaws are silent, by standard parliamentary procedure.
Membership
Anyone who supports the Society’s purpose becomes a member upon making the minimum donation. Members receive the Latta Genealogy Newsletter.
Officers
The Society is led by five elected officers: President, Vice President of Communication, Vice President of Research, Secretary/Historian, and Treasurer. Together they form the Executive Board, which meets and communicates regularly to conduct the Society’s business.
Nominations
Nominees for elected office must have been members in good standing for at least twelve months.
Advisory Roles (Standing Rules)
Beyond the five elected officers, the Standing Rules establish ten advisory roles that support the Society’s work, including an Archivist, Auditor, Branch Captains Coordinator, Newsletter Editor, and Web Master, among others.
Publications and Amendments
The Society publishes the Latta Genealogy Newsletter as its primary communication with members. These bylaws may be amended by the Executive Board following the process set out in the bylaws themselves. Adopted May 2, 2006.
